Saturday morning at Lake Winfield Scott was beautiful as we arrived for our hike to Blood Mountain. Cool crisp air and blue skies heralded soft breezes as nine of us gathered to proceed up the Jarrard Gap Trail toward the AT. We enjoyed fine long range views as the leaves haven't returned to the trees yet. And the lunchtime perspective from the summit was grand as clouds began to roll in. WE encountered several backpackers as we descended to Slaughter Creek Trail, enjoying the cascading brooks and rhododendron tunnels on our way back. Thanks to Leigh Ball for driving the carpool and being a wonderful trip co-lead!
