Happy Independence Day, Everyone! What a great group we had for our Fourth of July hike this morning. We showed our red, white and blue colors as we trekked over 5 miles of trails at Vickery Creek. The parking lot at Groveway Park was deserted except for our cars - - an auspicious start to our hike.
I knew the Renegades were hiking at Vickery this morning, but the route we took made it unlikely we would encounter them; however, we were lucky! We met up with them in the big intersection on the trail up from the Oxbo Bridge. It's always fun to greet them and spend 5 minutes talking with them. And, of course, they warrant several photos from both my camera and Lee's phone as we mingle.
The Wangs treated us to watermelon after the hike, and I brought frozen popsicles to cool us off. It was so pleasant gathering under a big shady tree nearby to spend just a few more minutes socializing before we all headed off for our holiday celebrations.
Lee, thanks for the pictures you took, which have been added to the album. And thanks to all of you who made today's hike really special with your colors and your conversation. ~ Joyce
