With lower-than-normal temperatures, high humidity, and no wind hiking conditions were good for a hike of this type, at least it did not rain, that was until we got back to the parking lot. We did introductions and started the hike. Starting from the Cheatham Hill parking lot we headed down we headed south on the West Knob Farm Trail, came to Powder Springs Road and headed north on the North Knob Farm Trail. We stopped at the Illinois monument. I mentioned that sometime this spring a new restroom would be installed near the parking lot and talked about the history of this part of the park. We took the John ward Connector Trail back to the East Knob Farm Trail and the parking lot.
We saw a lot of deer the few pictures posted don’t come close showing the number of deer we saw today. As for rain, it briefly sprinkled as we got into our cars in the parking lot – got lucky!
I would like to thank Chris for joining us on her eighth hike and the rest of the group for making her feel welcome.
