Trip Leader(s): Mark
Participants:Mark, Jim Barker, Tim W, Olesja, Leigh B

Write Up:

I've done the Emery Creek hike numerous times, but the creek was so low that this was the first time that I was able to rock-hop every crossing without ever getting my feet wet. We were all even able to rock-hop the much larger Holly Creek.

There were great leaf-free views of Emery Creek and Fort Mountain. We all stood on top of Bald Mountain, one of only two 4000-foot peaks in the Cohutta Wilderness. The other is Cowpen.

According to our trackers, this hike was 14.5 miles with 3400 feet of elevation gan. The Alltrails route that we used for planning had it at 3100 feet of elevation gain and 13.6 miles.

Weather from Hurricane Nicole was coming in, but we managed to complete the hike just as the first raindrops fell.

Wildlife seen: 1 non-poisonous snake
