The rain early this morning certainly wreaked havoc with our attempts to get to the hike on time! A truck on fire on 400 closed down all lanes for a while, there was a major accident on 285, and the surface roads were jammed with cars trying to find other routes. Our members, however, persevered! We started a few minutes late and made arrangements to meet some members at the Visitor Center when we finished the warm-up hill. It all eventually worked out, and all of us got together on the far end of the river trail. Not a person complained! And we had such great luck with the rain! It stopped completely as we gathered in the parking lot, so all of our rain gear quickly came off.

Laurie and Russ made it to the top of the warm-up hill first, but I think Gary just might have backed off by a step or two at the end to allow them to have the honor. (He's such a nice guy!)

I was happy to get a few bathroom shots as we took a break at the Visitor Center. I usually do Porta-Potty shots, but there are only real bathrooms here. What good sports folks were. They indulged me.

It was not the most beautiful morning for a hike, but it was, after all, a most enjoyable event. ~ Joyce
