Starting from the Lodge in sunny, breezy 40 degree F weather, we took the Approach Trail up in spite of whining from some members that this was the "hard way".  The leader affirmed, "yes it is, that's why we do it", and on we went.  We slowly warmed as we climbed, shucked a layer, kept climbing, and finally found the Hike Inn.  We were welcomed to sit in the dining hall to enjoy our lunch, and hot coffee and apples were made available by the friendly staff.  Taking the Len Foote trail back down, we passed more and more people on the way up.  One stout and appreciative hiker cheerfully observed that as a group we were "offical looking".... causing the trip leader to swell with pride.  With the bright sunshine and southern exposure on the Len Foote trail, some of us finished the hike in short sleeves.  All things considered... an excellent day outdoors.
