It truly felt like an early summer day on the trails today. We think the temperature got very close to 80 degrees. The hike started out easy, but after visiting the ruins on both sides of the creek, Russ led us along the creek trail until it seemed just too dangerous/difficult to continue. So instead, we climbed an ungodly steep hill to get up to the trail . . . only to soon take another trail back down to the creek! We stayed on the creek trail (now on a much better trail) to the end, and eventually climbed a hill to return to the official Sope Creek loop. Though some of the hike was challenging, everyone was up for the maneuvering, so it turned out to be an interesting route. Russ was in great spirits today, and as lively as ever. He claimed that his water bottle might not have been cleaned out . . . leaving a residue of some spirited liquid! ~ Joyce
