It was harder than the 5.5 mile version, but everyone came through just fine on the hike.  Russ clocked in 7.51 miles in 2 hours and 45 minutes.  When we moved, we moved!  It was nice to see that our newer members - - Rob, Dee, and Ed (all with fewer than 10 hikes) had no trouble keeping up with the group.  

We covered trails in Vickery Creek, the Waller Extension, and Allenbrook, but sadly didn't see even a feather of Bleau.  We did, however, see a little bird nexting under the roof of the covered bridge that was busily flying in and out of the next, either building or feeding!  (Rob was the one who spotted the bird and alerted the group.)

The day started our rather chilly, but the chill quickly gave way to jackets and layers being removed.  We caught some refreshing breezes here and there, so we didn't work up much of a sweat despite all the hills and the pace. 

Russ's watch showed 990 feet of ascent for the hike, so right on target for a D3 hike.
