Write Up:
This first attempt at a sunset/moonrise combo turned out to be a big success...mostly clear skies and some great views as always on top of St Mtn.   We had a good group and everyone hiked up at their own pace.  We kind of reassembled on the summit and then hiked down near the fence for a bit, just enjoying the views.   It was a cold wintery day and windy as well up there.

We enjoyed the sunset (see pics) and it was fun to watch the sun dropped behind the ATL skyline.  A good part of the group were too cold and headed down after this, but others bundled up even more and stayed for the moonrise. It was really chilly at this point but exciting to see the nearly full moon just slowly appear on the horizon...looked a bit distorted at first and deep red.  We watched it rise a bit and then headed down...fun event that we will have to repeat at some point in the future.
