The morning couldn't have been more perfect for our hike on the boardwalk and Vickery Creek. David led the boardwalk portion, reaching paces of 16 to 18 minute miles! The group was very well matched for the hike, so we never had to wait for stragglers.
Once we finished 4 miles on the boardwalk, we took a 5 minute break at the bathrooms to get our poles and use the restrooms. Then I led the group for the Vickery Creek portion of the hike.
We saw a group of AOC friends as we made it up Riviera Dr. into Vickery Creek. How nice to see Dan R., Linda, Tracy and Regina! We stopped briefly to say "hello" and were on our way. (We encountered them once again in the park.)
David suggested we go down the stairs and hike along the creek, and lucky for us, Bleau was on the rocks looking for his noonday meal! He posed for a few pictures, which made my day!
Our pace today was pretty fast. We hiked 9.1 miles in three hours (including breaks), finishing a half-hour earlier than the time allowed. What a great Memorial Day weekend workout! ~ Joyce
