This morning was an example of why I like to wait until early morning to cancel a hike. Conditions looked bleak last night and it was even thundering this morning . . . but the radar map showed favorable conditions by 9 am - - and indeed, the weather was great for our hike. We did alter our route to avoid muddy trails (we remained on the boardwalk), but we were able to go all the way to Willeo Road and back in our 2 hours, making the hike 6 miles instead of 5. We had ample time to take pictures of two blue herons, egrets, wood ducks and more! And the air stayed mild throughout our hike.
