The morning started cloudy with temperatures in the high 70’s and ending with temperature in the low 80’s. The temperature was great for hiking, the only problem was the 70% plus humidity. We left the parking lot headed for the Illinois Monument, from there we followed the Assault Trail to the Cheatham Hill Parking Lot and picked up the Kolb’s Farm West Trail. We proceeded south until we got to the southern end of the park and the trail changed to the Kolb’s Farm East Trail. We followed this back up to the Illinois Monument Parking Lot. Our distance was 5.6 miles in 2 hours and 13 minutes for a speed of 2.5 mph.
