Due to late cancellations, we had a small hiking group. That certainly did not deter the enjoyment of this early Sunday morning hike. The members were treated to a wonderful trail with perfect fall weather. We ended up on the high end of the stated hiking speed of this eight miles – 1000 ft elevation gain hike.  We averaged a speed of 3 mph.  I always have conflicted thoughts about the hiking speed, it’s nice to have good pace on a hike but then the enjoyment ends sooner.
