Congratulations to Marina on reaching her 200th AOC event today! She brought delicious Trader Joe's macaroons for the group to enjoy after the hike. (Thank you, Marina!)

Today's warm-up hill was the most exciting yet. Both Marina and Elizabeth took off in a run at the bottom of the hill and immediate were far ahead of the group. David (who has never lost the race to the top) wouldn't stand for that, so he, too, took off . . . with Russ right behind! By the time the two ladies got half way up the hill, their run turned into a walk; however, David - - a former long-distance runner and a strong sprinter - - kept up his run and easily made it to the top in first place. Russ came in a respectable second. Congratulations, - - AGAIN - - David!

The temperature was still in the 30's when we started, so most folks had on jackets; but our bodies warmed up nicely once we got a mile or so into the hike.
