We met at the Powers Island parking lot for introductions and walked over to Cochran Shoals to for the distance. We took the trail across the swamp zigzagged up and down the hills until we returned to the gravel road and stopped briefly at the Columns Drive parking lot. We returned to the Interstate North parking lot and crossed the river again. Stopped by the ramp on Powers Island for a second group picture. We did the loop between PI6 and PI7 then returned to the parking lot. We did have ice on some of the bridges at the beginning of the hike.

Note the pictures of the sign I posted stating that the parking lot is closed 10-30-23 for 20 days. They were bringing in construction equipment as we parked. I was the by the Chattahoochee Nature Conservancy a couple of weeks ago that when the contractor gets caught up, they will be repaving the parking lot. If you are leading a hike from here, you might want to check and see if the lot is open.
