Did we see lions, tigers, and bears? Oh, no! But we did see sleet (on the ground), ice (that often looked remarkably like water), and clear views for miles. While it may have been 20 or so when we started, John, Mark, and I were warm a few minutes into the climb toward Blood Mountain, and hot by our lunch break at Mountain Crossings at Neels Gap. Take a look at the pictures to see just how clear the skies were (once I figure out how to upload them)! We had a great hike for my first solo event as a potential trip leader. We also explored a trail that was new to all of us, and we liked it enough that I'm sure this hike will be repeated. After my legs recover, of course.
