Tue, Mar 12 2024 - Mulberry Creek, Chattahoochee, Morgan Falls Dam, and Hyde Farm (View Original Event Details)
|
We had 14 great hikers at Mulberry Creek/Hyde Farm this morning on a perfect sunny, spring warm and windless day. We got to see a rare waterfall coming off the dam spillway, which was an extra treat. No one fell in during the gazillion creek crossings, which is an added plus. We did have one bumped head (dang trees!), but no other injuries were reported to the medical staff. We did have one huge tree that recently fell down, blocking the path. We had to hike up a hill, around the roots and back down to the trail. I did not know we had a Giant Sequoia in Georgia. We hiked most of the way down Mulberry Creek and took a trail that went up and over a ridge and passed by an old deserted car. Then we went up through Johnson Ferry North to Morgan Falls Dam. We turned around and came back to Mulberry Creek until we turned off to go to Hyde Farm. We had lots of conversation and laughing on the hike, so I think everyone had a good time. I know I did.
Special thanks to Joyce and Lee for the photo album. I am trying to get some additional photos from Mike and will add the link to this writeup.
Below is the link to Mike's pictures of the hike. You may need to cut and paste it into your browser due to my lack of technical expertise. The pictures of all the creek crossings prove that the AOC don't need no stinkin' bridges!
Thanks Mike
