We worried about rain, but the rain cleared a few minutes before our hike was to start. Six hikers took a chance and were rewarded with fabulous weather, diamorpha smallii at their peak, and beautiful trails through varied landscapes. We hiked 7.66 miles and climbed 673 feet, passing through pine forests, hardwood forests, and fir forests, as well as crossing exposed granite. About 2/3 of the way through the hike we were treated to beautiful waterfalls on the Cascade Trail, and I found a way to avoid about 2 miles of the concrete path we otherwise would have walked. A great hike with a great groupk, including two hikers who were new to the AOC.
