As promised, we had a perfect day for hiking at Island Ford this morning. We had 6 determined hikers who started out chilly, but were taking off layers about 1 1/2 miles in. It was a perfectly blue sky with no apparent wind. You can't ask for better conditions than that. I'm sure Joyce's weather bubble helped. We maintained a good pace, covering about 6 miles in 2 hours 15 minutes. Elevation gain was between 600 and 650 feet depending on whose GPS you were looking at. I vote for 650! The trails were in good condition except for one section near the river that was flooded. We had to walk a bit through the woods to get around it, but soon found ourselves back on the trail.
I really enjoyed the hike, and hope everyone on it did, too.
I am trying to access the photos of the hike and will attach them to this write up when I receive them.
Thanks to everyone who attended.

Thank you to Joyce for her great photos of our hike. I was finally able to load them after technical difficulties having absoutely nothing to do with my total lack of technical ability. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
