Tue, Apr 2 2024 - Kennesaw Mountain Kolb Farm Loop Plus (View Original Event Details)
|
The morning started cloudy and humid; the temperature stayed in the mid to high 60’s for the entire hike. We had an occasional wind that felt great and four hikers that had not had the opportunity to experience this part of KMNBP. We left the parking lot headed south on the Kolb’s Farm West Trail until we came to Powder Springs Street. There we picked up the Kolb’s Farm East Trail, we stopped to talk about a social trail, how at one point 40 years ago one part of the trail was wet causing the park to build a trail on higher ground, and the new bridge replace two bridges (estimated bridge installation date late August to early September) on this part of the trail. We proceeded to the Illinois monument and the restrooms. Leaving the restrooms, we met the Cease Fire Trail at the trail head by the first canon battery on Chatham Hill Drive. We turned left on the Old John Ward Road Trail and returned to the parking lot. Overall, a beautiful day for hiking.
Thanks to Joy how joined us on her second hike and Gabe for joining us on her tenth event.
