Wed, May 15 2024 - Around Kennesaw Mountain Not Over (View Original Event Details)
|
It was warm and cloudy as we started. After a quick stop at the Visitor Center for a break we started the last half of the hike. As we were nearing the end of the New Salem Church Trail, we experienced a sudden drop of barometric pressure, and the clouds were getting darker. A quarter of a mile from the end of the hike on the Noses Creek Trail it started pouring. We all got drenched. After stopping for 3 or 4 minutes using the canopy to reduce how wet we got to no avail we headed toward the parking lot. Less than 100 yards later the rain stopped, and we hiked the last tenth of a mile in sunshine. We did 9.1 miles in 3 hours and 30 minutes for a pace of 2.6 mph.
