It looked like it was going to rain, it didn’t. We hiked from the overflow parking lot to the restrooms at the Visitor Center when to the Environmental Trail. Hiking it in a clockwise direction, we turned left on the 24 Gun Trail, and followed the 24 Gun Trail to Gilbert Road. We turned around until we came back to the Environmental Trail. We took the remaining portion that we had not hiked to the picnic area and returned to the overflow parking lot. The northwest side of the Environmental Trail was wet with flowing water. We stopped and talked about the trails and the history of this part of the park.
As we were approaching the 24 Gun Trail from the Environmental Trail, we saw what we thought was two deer. By the time the deer passed ahead of us on the trail eleven deer had crossed the trail.
Three of us had planned to go to Fire Stone Chinese Cuisine only to find that they are closed on Tuesday. We ended up at The Tomatoes County Buffet after rejecting two other establishments, not the same.
