Jeff and I got a break this morning at Stone Mountain. Overcast skies and a nice breeze at the top made the climb up, if not pleasant, at least manageable. We made a loop around the top, enjoying the green canaopy to the east and south. Coming down the mountain on the wooded side trail, we spied 4 deer and 1 fawn. On the Cherokee Trail we saw one heron beautifully posed on a branch in the lake. A short while later we saw another heron take flight across the lake. I gave the distance as 7.5 miles in the write-up and that's exactly what we did (I have my moments). I enjoyed talking with Jeff and getting to know him better. Overall, a fine morning!
