We had an "all girl" hike today, which was unusual but nice. We were all friends, so the conversations were constant throughout the hike.

Susan F. had cautioned me about trail closures due to flooding, so we were able to keep very dry shoes throughout the hike. Unfortunately, several trails had downed trees, which usually are no problem to get around. However, we had to do some figuring to get through one of the tree obstacles.

The trails had a lot of leaf cover, which gives us an idea of how difficult footing will become when Fall leaves really cover the trails. Holes, roots and rocks won't be visible!

We were so lucky to see two different herons on the trail by the creek. One seemed very young; the other was definitely an adult . . . perhaps the mother or father of the first one. ~ Joyce
