What a perfect day for hiking and picnicking today at Garland Mountain. There was, of course, some evidence of horses on the trails, but the piles were easy to spot and not that numerous. We hiked 6 or so miles over rolling trails, some of had considerable elevation, so it was a great workout even at our moderate pace. The group stayed tightly together, which speaks to the fitness of everyone on the hike.

We were so happy to welcome newbies today (members with fewer than 10 events) - - Kailey, Joanna, and Harry. They all seem happy with the AOC and are clocking in some nice hikes already.

Six of us were able to stay for a picnic lunch at the large pavilion at the end of the parking lot. Though it's a bit of a drive up to Waleska, these trails offer some really enjoyable hiking! ~ Joyce
