We had a great group of six hiker on this shorter, later, hike in Mason Mill Park and Lullwater Preserve. We had to modify the route to avoid most of the steep sections because the rain had just stopped and the ground was still very wet. Nevertheless, we hiked some nice trails. We even got to see a hawk devouring its prey from up close, no more than 15 feet from us. It was worried we might want to eat its snake (opinions differed on whether it was a snake or a frog), but we left it to the hawk! A very nice hike in surprising beautiful weather, just hours after the rain stopped!
