It was a little chilly when we started. We hiked from the overflow parking lot to the restrooms at the Visitor Center when to the Environmental Trail. Hiking it in a clockwise direction, we turned left on the 24 Gun Trail and followed the 24 Gun Trail to Gilbert Road. We turned around until we came back to the Environmental Trail. We took the remaining portion that we had not hiked to the picnic area and returned to the overflow parking lot. We stopped briefly to talk about the history of both the trail and the events that happened there over 160 years ago.
