The temperature was uncomfortably cold when we started our hike, resulting in a rather faster pace for a while. Things gradually warmed up, but jackets remain on for quite a while.

Deema and David V. took a decisive lead up the warmup hill, going so fast, no one challenged them. It just goes to show you, age is just a number when a 40+ and 70+ compete.

I was so happy to see the Renegades on the lollipop trail today. It always warms my heart to see their smiles and get hugs. I'll have to get information on the newcomer, Andy. It's the first time I've seen him with the group.

After we returned to the parking lot, Tracy alerted me to a beautiful hawk in a close-by tree. The hawk was in no hurry to fly, so I got several nice pictures of it.

Lee took lots of great photos which have been added to the album. It's so nice to add his perspective to the hike.

Our first Thursday morning hike of the New Year went splendidly . . . and we clocked in between 5.8 to 6.2 miles thanks to the cold weather! ~ Joyce
