Mon, Jan 6 2025 - Mason Mill and Melton Parks, Lullwater Preserve, Hahn Woods - 8.5 miles (View Original Event Details)
|
Today nine hikers dodged the rain and most of the wind on the trails of Mason Mill Park, Lullwater Preserve, and Hahn Woods. Due to the recent rain we had to skip the steepest and most technical parts of the hike, and I had to make up a new route on the fly to keep our distance near the 8.5 miles promised. That was a success, but the climbing was a bit less. In the process of adlibbing the route, Mary R showed us the trail to the Houston House, where we saw and old spring house and cisterns, and the original mill stone for Houston Mill! A very nice addition that was new to me. We also welcomed to the club Kristi F (her first event), Damon P (his 4th event), and Gwen E (her 14th event). And it was Sue J's 50th hike with the club. What a great group of hikers! I'm sure we will see them on future hikes soon!
