Thu, Jan 9 2025 - Thursday Morning Semi-Fitness Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
|
It was a very chilly morning, but true to form, with the sun shining and the wind level low, we warmed up quickly, and were ready to de-layer by the time we got to the upper parking lot.
We were delighted to congratulate Gary with some special poster-photos and a commemorative rock for his milestone achievement. Fewer than 10 members have reached 1,000 hikes, and Gary is one of only a few to reach 1,100. Way to go, Gary!
We stayed in the main section of the park today, with a detour to circle the lagoon at the apartment complex just outside the park. There was a layer of ice covering much of the pond this morning, an indication that the temperature was still at the freezing point.
There was a great competition to reach the top of the warmup hill this morning. George gave Dawn a run for her money, but her last-minute sprint put Dawn across the finish line first. Yay, Dawn!
Thanks to Lee for the great photos he added to the album. ~ Joyce
