What looked to be a sketchy morning with the weather turned out to be really nice. Once we got out of the wind and onto the trails, we warmed up quickly and stayed comfy throughout the hike. No complaints about the temperature that remained in the low 40's.

The only difficult part of the trail was crossing what is usually a very narrow creek along the Oxbo trail, headed toward Grimes Bridge. It was swollen, and crossing was made possible by some sticks and logs folks had thrown down. Most of us made it across just fine. Bette decided to take an alternate route and stepped one foot into deep slush. She ended up with two very differently colored Hokas on each foot.

The dam was about as forceful as I've ever seen it. Lee got some great shots of it.

I was happy that our "vets" stayed on the hike (all the newbies dropped), so that we had a nice group of 10 for the hike. We were all very happy to get in a dry, energizing hike this morning.

Thanks to Lee for the added photos. He saw a beautiful cat that the rest of us completely missed. He catches a lot by hanging out at the back of the group! If Mike took any good shots, he, too, will add them to the album. ~ Joyce
