We were fortunate in being able to get in our hike today. The cold front brought rain that lasted just past 9 am. There was a distinct chill in the air, especially with the dampness, but midway into our hike, conditions improved and we were comfortable.

We were so lucky today to see a hawk and an owl very close to each other near Leita Thompson's first home. We were able to get several good photos. We also heard a woodpecker but couldn't see it; however, Lee not only saw it, but managed to get a short video of it with sound!

How nice it was to have three newbies on our hike plus a new dog! Gloria P. (3rd event) brought her dog, Roxie; Claudia brought her good friend from South Carolina, Jan R.; and Laura F. joined us for her 2nd hike. All the ladies were exceptionally friendly and great hikers as well.
