Write Up:SO, it was suppose to be a D4, but...here is what happened. I missed a turn on the Gahuti, that was fine, no big deal, we just took the red trail instead of the orange trail (um, red is the new orange) which took us along the lake. Everyone was happy, it was pretty. We then took the blue trail and thanks to Lisa's help we took the road back up to the Gahuti trail and continued on....I know you are expecting some drama... None. We stopped at the restrooms before continuing to the overlook for lunch. Folks wanted to see the tower, so we did and they found the heart amongst the other stones that makeup the buildings walls. Paula moment, 'always look up'. And then we walked to the stone wall, again - no drama, looking like a pile of rocks. Back onto the Gahuti trail. When we reached the turnoff for the 301 I gave folks the option to take it, it has more elevation and might get us to a D5, but folks were somewhat ready (yep, ready) for the hike to end.....building up to a bit of drama. So it is a series of ups and downs to get to the cars and that's when we discovered we were at 2463...well, you are now looking at 6 hikers that are invigorated, excited, energized, and ready to do whatever it takes to reach 2500. Thus ensued a trip up the the visitor center/trading post (bathroom break) and nope - not quite enough elevation, so once we got back to the cars we went up the stairs and BOOM 2510'.
