Thu, Apr 10 2025 - Thursday Morning Semi-Fitness Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
| ![]() |
Oh, what a beautiful morning!
There was a distinct chill in the air when we started, and though the sun came out in full force, the temperature never got above the mid 60's, and an occasional chilly breeze kept us very comfortable. We had several stops along the way, but we still managed to get in over 5 miles.
David W. was on our hike, which meant he would be first up the warmup hill. Steve F. wouldn't let him off too easy, so the two of them were neck and neck until the last few steps. (David never had to break into his famous sprint which always beat any challengers who might be close by.). Congratulations, David, and a pat on the back for Steve!
We circled the pond again today, and were not surprised to see lots of turtles out for a sunbath.
If you get to Island Ford in the next few days, you'll marvel at the beautiful fringetree in the front island that is ablaze with blossoms as you drive into the park. The sun shines through the tree and makes for an amazing sight.
Thanks to Lee for the photos he added to the album. They always add a nice perspective to the collection. ~ Joyce
