Ooooh, lucky again with the weather. It rained before our hike and it rained after our hike, but we had not a drop during our hike except those falling from the wet tree leaves. Though the humidity was high, the air was a bit cooler thanks to the rain that passed.
We were delighted to meet Marcio's wife, Stefany today. She proved herself to be a very strong hiker, challenging Dawn and Mary up the warm-up hill. Dawn got to the top first, with both Mary and Stefany just steps behind. Good job, ladies!
Bob G. came out of AOC retirement to join our hike today. I had over 25 hikes with him pre-covid . . . and we've seen him hiking alone on Thursdays at Island Ford. So nice that he decided to hike with us today.
We saw a beautiful Mountain Laurel in bloom and we got a picture of a box turtle by the trail. There are pictures of both in the album. We also saw a huge squashed snake on the road, but it was definitely not picture worthy.
Lee took a lot of photos today - - reallly great ones - - that have been added to the album. Thank you, Lee! ~ Joyce
