Write Up:
We had an interesting and enjoyable combination of participants this morning at Cochran Shoals. We had newbies, oldies, advanced and intermediate hikers. This was Patti Rice’s first event, Leigh Potter’s second event, and Luanne Johnson’s fifth event with the AOC. Daniel Lerch was back after a gap of a few years. I hope you become regular participants. I was honored to have fellow trip leaders and high level hikers, Holt Ward and Mark Bowden and I always enjoy having Mary Reed and Fran Levine on my hikes. The highlight of our hike was a large snake (King Snake? Water Snake?) right in the middle of the trail eating a chipmunk. I posted a video of the snake eating the chipmunk. Mary saw the snake finish off the chipmunk. I don’t think that snake will need another meal for a while. I hope it shows up in the album. We also saw beaver dams. I forgot to take a group picture.
