After some initial weather uncertainty and parking challenges, we ended up having a great hike. We took a side trip into the Bowmans Island Chatt NRA park and was nice to be back down there and walking along the river.  It was about 5 miles until we reached the beach area and felt so good to get in the cool water.  We swam and waded and then did the last 1.4 miles to the car...so did about 6 1/2 miles total and about 700 feet of total ascent...a good little workout.   It was the very first AOC event for Shane, Gabriella, and Joe, so glad they could join us and hope to see all on another one soon...
