Write Up:What an absolutely perfect day for a hike!! Thanks to all for arriving on time - I know how difficult that can be in Atlanta rush hour traffic. We were able to set out right on time, on what I was informed, was a very ambitious route to attempt to complete by sunset. So off we went, blazing down the trail, a rolling cloud of dust rising in our wake, mountain bikers moving off to the right to let us blow by. Ok... maybe a slight exaggeration concerning the bikers - they did look intimidated though - but we sure didn't let any grass grow under our feet. Around the pond, through the woods, down to the river in Cochran Shoals, over to the Columns Drive restrooms for a pit stop, back into the woods, up the hill, past the cemetery, across to Sope Creek, and then rock hopping all the way up the bank of Sope Creek to the ruins, finally winding our way along a few more trails until we made it back to the parking lot about two minutes before needing our flashlights. We completed 6.8 miles in 2 hours, while staying together as a group. Great job to all!
