Write Up:I really like Boundary Waters Park! There's always something interesting to see there. Today, we caught a glimpse of deer running through the woods, horseback riders, and two giant Great Danes loose near a neighborhood. One of them had blazing red eyes - - a true devil dog! Several new members braved the cloudy skies and light mist to make their first trek, and I even got reaquainted with a former student of mine - - Julie Peters (then Banner). It was a pleasure meeting Ripley (Nancy Leatherbarrow's dog) and seeing Sadie again (Mitchell Graham's adventurous pal). Thanks, Yan, for introducting me to this lovely park.
By the way, the park is well patrolled. Officer Shepard (in a patrol car) advised that groups of 15 or more should get a permit from the Douglas Count Parks Dept. (www.doublascountyparks.com) for permission to use the park. Smaller groups don't need permission but should check in the with Aquatic Center to let them know a group is out there, just so they can check on the group if they don't return. It's nice that there's good security out there.
Officer Shepard advised that the leash laws are strictly enforced. Appearance before a judge results if a person is caught violating the law.
