Write Up: A tip of the hat to the dozens of our members who are out enjoying about 20 exciting AOC events this weekend despite the subfreezing chill factor and high winds. On Saturday our intrepid "wild-side walkers" delighted in observing more than 200 beautiful birds of at least 32 different species, including red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, red-headed woodpeckers, brown thrashers, red-winged blackbirds, mockingbirds and golden-crowned kinglets in the scenic lakeside region of Panola Mtn State Park.
Thanks to Ranger Phil Delestrez of the GA-DNR and the Audubon Society for being such a friendly and expert guide! I plan to post another AOC wildlife walk with Phil for Saturday morning March 3rd at Hard Labor Creek State Park, so mark your calendars. -Charlie
