Write Up:Allan W., Susan F., Chris H., and Joyce T. didn't allow the rain to dampen their plans for a hike at Island Ford this afternoon. We donned our rain jackets and took a fast pace through the old and the new trails, covering the 7+ miles in just over two hours. Allan showed us a sight new to Susan and Joyce - - the remnants of an old vine-covered storage house used long ago by a dweller of the area (see photos). By the time we reached the newer "lollipop" trail, the rain stopped, and we continued the hike in excellent conditions. Along the way, we saw several deer, a comorant, geese, ducks, and a box turtle. Human hiking companions don't come any better than these three!
