Write Up:We had a nice time with perfect spring weather and delighted in observing and listening to the songs of more than 30 bird species. A major highlight of the morning was the "heron rookery tree" - a tall old pine on the eastern shore of the river with about 20 nesting Great Blue Herons in its huge crown attending to their newly hatched chicks. Also saw lots of colorful butterflies.
