Thunder and the threat of rain didn't stop this group from tackling the Island Ford hike this afternoon. Even after receiving a disclaimer email about possible severe weather, they came! We started at the upper lot and took an interesting route (thanks, Chris) past the Visitor's Center to the pond, where we stopped for a few pictures before circumnavigating the water. We then re-entered the woods and hurried along the trail to the sound of thunder in the not-too-distant distance.  Back at the parking lot, some folks decided not to press their luck and headed home while still dry.  The rest of us cotinued the hike along the lollipop loop.  The sound of thunder continued to increase, so we once again split the group at the pop part of the lolli.  Chris, Andrew and Phil complete the 3/4 loop while the rest of us hurriedly returned the mile "stick" to the cars.  The weather gods were with us - -  none of us got a drop of rain the entire time!  (I heard that Lauren's group at the Roswell Greenway this evening wasn't so lucky! Heh, heh.)
