Sat, Aug 25 2012 - Mount Yonah summer photo hike and picnic (View Original Event Details)

Our group of 14 fulfilled the promise of the hike, taking many photos and enjoying a terrific picnic atop Mt. Yonah. Our ascent started in sweltering heat, but a half hour rainstorm cooled things off, making for perfect hiking weather. We had to find shelter under a huge boulder while the rain fell, but it was a refreshing break in the weather. Unfortunately, we missed a beautiful sunset because of the thundercloud that blocked the sun; but that didn't dampen our spirits. Instead, we enjoyed taking photos on the rock outcropping and feasting on a wide assortment of treats brought by our participants. We all had a fine time, and look forward to our next ascent of this beautiful mountain. -Joyce
