I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon's hike at Gold Branch.  The temperature bordered chilly, so that keeping a fast pace felt great.  We covered over 5 miles of trails in an hour and a half, circumventing the area and criss-crossing the inner trails twice (thus adding some significant hills).  I was happy to have Chelsea and Tessa with us, as well as Andy's friend from childhood, Robin (who is visiting Andy and came along on her first AOC event!). Everyone kept up the pace, allowing us to reach the parking lot just as darkness descended.  

We encountered a baby snake on the trail - - which brought Alex R. to mind.  Alex, I hope you're doing okay after the copperhead bite you sustained over the weekend.
