Mon, Oct 29 2012 - Summit Sunsets: Mount Yonah (+Pink Mtn) - full moon and fall color hike (View Original Event Details)
|
Against all common sense, a group of seven AOCers looked Jack Frost and Hurricane Sandy in the face and hiked not one, but two peaks in a blustery wind.
The group climbed Pink Mountain and then Mt Yonah. The cool hike was spared precipitation, but the winds made it unwise to stand on the overlooks. The "prize" of this hike was an unsurpassed sunset (pics coming soon). The clouds were low but the horizon visibility could not be better. We were rewarded with clear views of the Atlanta skyline about 90 miles away.
After watching the vibrant pink and blue sunset we head-lamped hiked back to the trailhead with unforgettable memories. - Richard
