Here's Billy G.'s first write-up as a potential trip leader! As a former English teacher, I (Joyce T.) give it an A+ !
After a week of cold and rain, 12 heroes set out to enjoy a walk in the woods along the Chatahoochee river on a 61-degree, sunny afternoon in January. Although we’d planned to cover six miles, a balance was ultimately struck between our love of nature and exercise with our loyalty to the Falcons, beer and wings by trimming our distance to a respectable, 4.5 miles, so that we could all make it to our T.V. sets in time to watch the 3:00 kick-off for today’s important play-off game. We had a silent stint, broken only by the oblivious co-leader, who, understandably, didn’t hear the instructions for silence, being that he was sweeping and therefore at the back of the line. Along the waterfront, we caught sight of a large heron craning up at the sun from the river while two kayakers passed by, reminding us that while it may be winter, the weather where we live makes it possible to enjoy the outdoors almost all the time, which is exactly what we did today. ~ by Billy Gewin
