Sun, May 12 2013 - No Excuses Hike: Sunday Afternoon at Yellow River Park (View Original Event Details)
|
It's always a special treat to welcome new folks into the AOC by taking them on their very first hike. Phyllis and I had the pleasure of leading two first-timers on our special Mother's Day No-Excuses hike at Yellow River Park. Jennifer F. (Mark F.'s wife) and Cristina (a good friend of Laurene's) joined us on the trails yesterday and seemed to have a great time enjoying the fresh air and companionship at this beautiful Gwinnett park.
We kept a moderate pace (a bit faster than the leisurely stroll I anticipated) and saw many beautiful sights alone the way . . . the Yellow River, full and flowing, blossoming mountain laurels, numerous families enjoying Mother's Day picnics, a turtle sunning itself on a river log, . . . why, even the poison ivy growing lushly up the trees was reason for a pause and a picture!
I hope everyone's Mother's Day was as fulfilling as ours.
