Write Up:I forgot how beautiful this 5.6 section of the Kennesaw Battlefield can be. We covered the trail in under 2 hours, keeping up a brisk pace. We stopped for water, a snake, and horses, but otherwise moved along smartly. Bert is in training for some solo hiking in the Appalacians, so he handicapped himself with a 35 pound backpack, and actually extended his hike to Pigeon Hill and back. This, in addition to joining Don and me at Turtle Creek Trail tomorrow for an additional 12 miles! (He seems fit for the task.) Connie was sadly Ellie-less, though we agreed that dogs tend to slow down the pace on a hike. There was minor evidence of recent rains, but otherwise the trail to Kolb Farm was gorgeous! After we returned to our cars and the group dispersed, I took some additional shots of the historic area.
