How lucky we were to have dry weather for our hike at Island Ford!  That's why I hate to cancel hikes when rain is in the forecast.  The weather services are so often wrong.  We did have to make a change in our route, though.  The high water level of the river caused flooding across the lollipop trail toward the end of the stem, making the trail impassable.  So we did an about face and spent the rest of the evening hiking the trails in the main section of the area.  I was excited to find a turtle on the trail, only to discover it wasn't home.  :-(

Everyone was up for the brisk pace, making it a really enjoyable hike.
